About the event

Stone & Spoon is proud to announce the third installment of "Outspoken: A Poetry Open Mic" in The Gallery at Stone & Spoon on Thursday, May 18th at 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. $5 Cover at Entry, Arrive early to get on the list to perform!

MORE DETAILS: The open mic is an event open to all levels of skill, newcomers, anyone that wants to read their poetry out loud. A sign-up for short 5-7 minute slots will be available prior to the beginning of the open mic and will receive preference. When the list is concluded, any time left over will be open time on the mic. Read your work, practice, experiment with a new style. Or even read someone else’s work, a poem that you love. Subject matter may include swearing or triggering content and are not necessarily the opinions of the Gallery. Suggested age 12+.

MEET YOUR HOST: Alaina Foster is a queer non-binary poet from the Midwest residing in Ypsilanti. Their work spans decades and subject matter from social justice to mental health to humor and relationships. They have performed their work in poetry slams across the country as well as internationally and encourage everyone to experience and engage with poetry. They have terrible stagefright and perform anyway.

Mobility note: Our beautiful 19th century building does not have an elevator, so all attendees will need to take a flight of stairs to our second floor Gallery space.
